Step 1 — Extraction of Stone Blocks

Natural stones such as marble and granite are found in large rock formations or surface layers. Extracting usable stone from these rock beds is known as quarrying. At AxisCore Solutions, we operate multiple deposits and quarries rich in White Marble, Green Marble, Granite, and other varieties.

The extraction begins by creating a “bench wall” — a large vertical section of stone that is precisely separated using diamond wire saws, drills, and controlled blasting. Once loosened, the bench wall is cut into manageable blocks, each typically weighing between 15,000 and 25,000 pounds, ready for the next stage.

Quality Assurance: Each block undergoes rigorous quality checks to ensure it meets industry standards and client specifications.

Step 2 — Initial Processing & Quality Sorting

Once removed from the quarry, the raw blocks undergo inspection and classification to match their intended end use. Each block is evaluated for:

  • Size and uniformity
  • Color tone consistency
  • Number of natural veins or streaks (fewer streaks mean higher grades)
  • Purity and freedom from stains
  • Cracks or imperfections

Given their weight and size, these blocks are carefully handled with cranes and specialized machinery throughout loading, unloading, and processing.

Step 3 — Precision Block Cutting

Blocks are then cut down into slabs or strips. For larger blocks, multiwire saws with diamond cables slice them into slabs with minimal material loss. Smaller or irregular blocks are processed with block cutters, producing strips that can later be trimmed into tiles or custom dimensions.

  • Multiwire saws: Best for creating uniform slabs.
  • Block cutters: Ideal for producing strips for further finishing into tiles or smaller pieces.

This precise cutting process ensures we maximize the yield from each block while minimizing waste.

Step 4 — Finishing, Fabrication & Polishing

Once cut, the slabs move to the fabrication line for reinforcement and finishing. A mesh backing is often added for extra strength. Then, the surface undergoes various treatments to achieve the desired look and texture:

  • Polishing: Brings out the stone’s natural shine and color for a glossy, smooth finish.
  • Honing: Creates a matte, non-reflective surface by removing saw marks.
  • Antiquing: Gives the stone an aged, weathered appearance.
  • Bush Hammering: Produces a rougher texture for slip resistance — ideal for exteriors.
  • Sanding: Results in a lightly textured, smoother surface.
  • Split Face: Delivers a rustic, rugged finish for a natural stone effect.

Once finished, slabs are either ready for sale or further customized to meet specific client needs — from tiles and countertops to bespoke architectural elements.
